The Shaykh mentions his discussion with the Tahrir Party regarding their denial of ahad hadiths in matters of creed

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : You must have heard of a well-known party here and with us in Syria, the Tahrir Party.
The student: Yes.

The Shaykh : These are among those who have spread the distinction between ahad hadiths and mutawatir hadiths. There is no harm in this; it is a reality, as I said earlier, and it is prescribed in the science of terminology. But what is the fruit of their distinction? What is the fruit of their spreading? It is this: Ahad hadiths are acted upon in rulings, but not in creed. As for mutawatir hadiths, those are what are acted upon in creed. I had a great deal of discussion with them in Syria. I said to them, "You have no mutawatir hadith at all. So your matter will come back to relying only, only on the Qur'an. And the Qur'an, in terms of its indication and its interpretation, has aspects. So from where do you take and prefer one aspect over another? You must return to the Sunnah. The Sunnah with you is only ahad. Why? I gave them an example. I said to them, your leader,The Shaykh : Taqi al-Din al-Nabhan, is first of all not from the people of hadith; he is not a hadith scholar, and his books are filled with weak and denounced hadiths. But let us assume he is the al-Bukhari of his time. If he says about a hadith that it is a mutawatir hadith and mentions the chains, and we are convinced that this hadith is mutawatir, but this hadith is mutawatir with him. As for you, you will say, "Our Shaykh said..."The Shaykh : If mutawatir comes back to one person, you know that the condition of mutawatir is that it be mutawatir in every layer of the chain of narration. So from where do you take the mutawatir hadith? Then I gave them a clear example showing them the error of their call and that they are contradicting themselves. They have a book with a special chapter, "The Path of Faith." There they explicitly state: "It is not permissible to take ahad hadiths in creed." And among the curiosities: from their side, and the influence of the Salafi call, and praise be to Allah, from the other side, after many and very many discussions, they reprinted the book. They said, "In place of the word 'not permissible,' they said 'not obligatory.' And thus the phrase became 'permissible.' They replaced the word in place of the word. They used to say: 'It is not permissible to take ahad hadiths in creed.' So after long discussions, they reprinted the book and said 'not obligatory.' Ha, they took a step. The important thing is I gave them an example by way of joking with them. I said, they claimed that one of the missionaries of the Tahrir Party went to call to Islam in Japan. The gathering assembled, and he spoke and spoke a lot about the foundations and pillars of faith and creed and the like. And among what he established for them was that abrogated word: "It is not permissible to take ahad hadiths in creed." So one of the attendees, one of the smart, intelligent ones, stood up and said, "Oh teacher, you have demolished what you built." He said to him, "Oh teacher, you have demolished what you built." He said, "How?" He said to him, "You are speaking about creed now, and creed is built on certainty, and one must return to his country and come with the number of mutawatir. Come with the number of mutawatir so that the Japanese take creed by mutawatir." And among what I said to them: You know that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to send messengers from his side to call the peoples and nations to Islam, and they were individuals and single persons. And especially, you know that he sent Mu'adh ibn Jabal to Yemen and said to him:
Let the first thing you call them to be the testimony that there is no god but Allah, and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. If they obey you, then command them to pray. ليكُنْ أوَّل ما تدعوهم إليه شهادة أن لا إله إلا الله ، وأن محمد رسول الله ، فإن هم أطاعوك فمُرْهم بالصلاة
to the end of the hadith, and it is agreed upon by the two Shaykhs. I said, "On this basis, he contradicted your methodology, just as you contradicted your methodology when you go as individuals to call, I mean the Messenger did not send the proof, and I seek refuge in Allah. They said, "Yes, he only sent him to clarify for the people only. As for the proof, it does not stand except with a mutawatir report." So they attributed incapacity, and even ignorance, to the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him). In summary, may Allah reward you: These people meet with the Quranists in many matters. And among the effects of that is that they do not care about perfecting the prayer, or fasting, or Hajj, despite the difference in that. And these Quranists, I did not contact them much, so I found myself compelled to ask you: Have you seen their prayer? So I benefited from you with a new argument against them: that they are in a state of confusion, that they are contradictory, and that they are blinded in their misguidance, in both principles and applications. This is what comes to my mind now.
The student : May Allah reward you with good.
