Playing cards is a form of gambling

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: We often play the card game of Belot with some wealthy people, and the winner among us gives them 200 riyals. Is this forbidden and considered gambling?

Answer: This game, as described, is forbidden and is a form of gambling.
Gambling is the maysir mentioned in the saying of the Exalted:
O you who have believed, indeed, intoxicants, gambling, [sacrificing on] stone alters [to other than Allah], and divining arrows are but defilement from the work of Satan, so avoid it that you may be successful.
[Al-Ma'idah 5:90]
Indeed, Satan only wants to cause between you hostility and hatred through intoxicants and gambling, and to turn you away from the remembrance of Allah and from prayer. So will you not stop? [Al-Ma'idah: 90, 91].
Therefore, it is obligatory for every Muslim to fear Allah and to beware of this game and other types of gambling; so that he may attain success and a good outcome, and safety from the many evils resulting from this game, as mentioned in the two verses. Racing is only permissible in camels, horses, and archery; due to the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
No stake is acceptable except in archery, racing a camel, and racing a horse.لا سبق إلا في نصل أو خف أو حافر
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1700Hasan (Darussalam)
. The intended meaning of "nasil" is shooting with arrows, and similar to that is shooting with modern weapons. As for "khuff," the intended meaning is camels. And by "huffar," the intended meaning is horses. And success is from Allah.
