The Book of Jihad, Expeditions, and Authority-07b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Zuhayr ibn Harb narrated to us, Rawh ibn 'Ubadah narrated to us, Zakariyya narrated to us, Abu al-Zubayr informed us that he heard Jabir ibn 'Abd Allah say:
I fought in the company of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) nineteen battles. Jabir said: I did not participate in the Battle of Badr and the Battle of Uhud. My father prevented me (from participating in these battles as my age was tender). After `Abdullah (my father) was killed on the Day of Uhud, I never lagged behind the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and joined every battle (he fought).
Sahih Muslim 1813
.

The Shaykh : In his statement:
My father prevented me.
, this is evidence that a father has the right to prevent his son from participating in jihad. However, if we say that he has this right, is it better for him to prevent him or better for him to permit him? If the son's condition is suitable for fighting, it is better to permit him; otherwise, it is not.
