Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
How can debt be a companion of shirk (associating partners with Allah)?

Answer:
No, the debt is a right belonging to a human being that is suspended; if it is not paid to its owner, it will be paid to its owner: if the debtor was negligent, he is in danger, and if he was not negligent, Allah will settle it for him . If he was excused, Allah will settle it for him. He (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Whoever accepts other people's wealth intending to pay it back, Allah will pay it back for him. And whoever accepts it intending to waste it, Allah, the Most High, will waste (destroy) him.من أخذ أموال الناس يريد أداءها أدّى الله عنه، ومن أخذها يريد إتلافها أتلفه الله
Bulugh al-Maram 7:94
It was narrated by al-Bukhari in the Sahih.
