Divorce Conditional on a Condition

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question: The husband, M. A., came to me and admitted that he had divorced his wife once and then taken her back, which was about a year or more ago. Then he said to his family: "Take the radio and the television out of the house. If they return to the house, she is divorced with the two remaining divorces; she is lawful for others and forbidden to me, and the divorce is final. If you see them with someone else, it is the same. And every time the radio and television return, it is the same." They had returned to the house, and he had seen them outside many times. This is how he confessed.
When asked about his intention, he answered: "I intend to prevent her, and I intend to effect the divorce if she does so." This is how he answered, and he sought my ruling on the matter.

Answer: Based on that, I issued a ruling to him: that the two remaining divorces have taken effect on the aforementioned wife; because the condition upon which they were suspended has occurred more than once. By that, she has become separated from him and forbidden to him until she marries another husband; because he has exhausted the two remaining divorces by the occurrence of the condition upon which they were suspended more than once.
And we ask Allah to replace each of them with something better than their partner, and to rectify the situation of all.
Said and recorded by: The one in need of the forgiveness of his Lord, Abdul Aziz ibn Abdullah ibn Baz, President of the Islamic University of Madinah al-Munawwarah, may Allah forgive him, and may Allah send prayers upon His servant and messenger Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions.
