The Ruling on Increasing the Price in Installment Sales

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In the last question of this session, she says: If I buy a garment, for example, from a seller for five dinars in cash, while this seller sells the same garment for seven dinars to those who want it on installment, is this considered riba? And is it forbidden for me to deal with him? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
This is not riba; because installment sales are not the same as immediate cash sales. Immediate cash sales are cheaper. So, if the item is a garment, a vessel, or a car that is worth a certain amount in cash and a higher amount on installment, there is no harm in that. If you buy the garment for ten in cash, or for fifteen on installment, paying five each month or five each year, there is no harm in that, provided the item sold is owned by the seller, is in his possession, and is present in his custody. Installment sales are broader and have a higher price than immediate sales, and there is no harm in that. Yes.
