The Prophet's Guidance in Easing the Burden on the Congregation in Prayer

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Also, he asks about phrases by Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him), saying: Ibn al-Qayyim said: "Easing the burden is a relative matter that refers to what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did, not to the desires of the congregation." What is meant by "a relative matter" and what is meant by "the desires of the congregation"?

Answer:
As mentioned earlier, one should follow the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in easing the burden by reciting as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) recited, bowing as he bowed, and prostrating as he prostrated. One should be moderate, neither prolonging the prayer nor rushing through it, but between rushing and the prolongation that burdens people. This is following the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). One should not follow those who rush through the prayer so quickly that they do not allow people to perform what is prescribed, nor should one follow those who prolong it to the point of driving people away, but rather be between the two. The example to follow is the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him); because he said:
offer your prayers in the way you saw me offering my prayersصلوا كما رأيتموني أصلي
Sahih al-Bukhari 6008
, and the Lord (Exalted and Majestic is He) said:
There has certainly been for you in the Messenger of Allah an excellent patternلَقَدْ كَانَ لَكُمْ فِي رَسُولِ اللَّهِ أُسْوَةٌ حَسَنَةٌ
[Al-Ahzab: 21]. So following the example of the Prophet is this moderation. May Allah send blessings upon him...
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good and do you good.
