Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh: Yes.

The questioner: Peace be upon you.

The Shaykh: And upon you peace.

The questioner : How are you, my Shaykh?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, I am well.

The questioner : How is your health?

The Shaykh : May Allah preserve you.

The questioner : We are speaking from Aqaba.

The Shaykh : Welcome.

The questioner : By Allah, our Shaykh, we have a very important question.

The Shaykh : Good, if Allah wills.

The questioner : There is, in the Egyptian Ministry of Awqaf.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : An imam who works under the Ministry of Awqaf.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : So everyone asks: is it permissible to pray behind him or not? There are, I mean, certain things that determine whether it is permissible to pray behind him or not.

The Shaykh : What are the things that are determined?

The questioner : I mean, there are conditions that he does not meet. For example, the first thing: he shaves his beard. The second thing: he smokes. The third thing: he swears oaths with phrases of shirk, such as divorce. The fourth thing: he prevents gatherings of knowledge. The fifth thing: he works in the Ministry of Awqaf, as you know. The sixth thing: he is loyal to the regime. The seventh thing: he issues incorrect fatwas without knowledge, encourages the people of innovation, and does not love the people of the Sunnah. This is what we want to know the answer to.

The Shaykh : Yes, after the details.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : After this detail, is he a Muslim or a disbeliever?

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : I am asking you.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : What? Yes, yes? I am asking you: is he a Muslim or a disbeliever?

The questioner : A Muslim.

The Shaykh : Fine, it is permissible to pray behind every Muslim.

The questioner : Even if these things are present in him.

The Shaykh : What do you mean by "even if" after all the details?

The questioner : Yes, Shaykh.

The Shaykh : What do you mean by saying "even if" after that detail?

The questioner : I mean, I say these things.

The Shaykh : Pray behind every righteous person and every open sinner.

The questioner : I pray behind him.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Of course, our Shaykh, is there any evidence? No problem, I mean?

The Shaykh : The evidence.

The questioner: Yes.

The Shaykh : He (peace be upon him) said:
They will lead you in prayer. If they are correct, the reward is for you and for them. If they make a mistake, the reward is for you and the sin is upon them. يصلُّون بكم ، فإن أصابوا فلكم ولهم ، وإن أخطأوا فلكم وعليهم
.

The questioner : May Allah bless you, our Shaykh.

The Shaykh : May Allah bless you.

The questioner : Amen. No problem, there is something else.
