The Ruling on Watching Television Series and the Like

His second question is: What is the ruling on watching statues that are displayed on video or in the cinema, or what is similar to that, especially since it is well known that in those dramas there are many women who display their adornment?
Answer: Watching images on television, or in films, or obscene images of women or men who have not covered themselves, or who are committing fornication, or who are committing some of what is wrong, all of this is not permissible. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to watch images of women who are not wearing hijab, or who are nearly naked, or images of men who have exposed their thighs, or who are playing with what Allah has forbidden, such as gambling, or with entertainment instruments, or who are engaging in forbidden singing. All of this must be abandoned and one must be cautious of it, because they are wrongdoings and watching them is not permissible. Also, watching them may lead to committing them and approving of them. Therefore, the believer should protect himself from that. He should only watch on television what is of benefit, such as watching scientific or industrial seminars, or other things that benefit the viewer.
