What is the authenticity of the hadith: “Twelve rak'ahs that you pray between night and day”?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Shaykh 'Abd al-'Aziz, the first message in this episode is one that reached us from one of our female listeners. At the end of the message, she signed with a truly striking signature, saying: "The one who is afflicted in her worldly life and her religion (M. M. 'A. 'A)!" Our sister has a long question, but it appears to have a scholarly aspect. She says: It was reported from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) this hadith, in which it is said: From Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) , from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said:
Twelve rak'ahs that you pray between night and day, and you bear witness between every two rak'ahs. When you bear witness at the end of your prayer, praise Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and send blessings upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and recite while you are prostrating the opening of the Book seven times, and the Verse of the Throne seven times, and say: “There is no god but Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs the dominion and to Him belongs the praise, and He is over all things competent” ten times. Then say: “O Allah, I ask You by the bonds of majesty of Your Throne, the limit of mercy in Your Book, Your greatest name, Your highest authority, and Your perfect words. Then ask for your need, then raise your head, then say the salam to the right and to the left, and do not teach it to the ignorant, for they will supplicate with it and be answered.”
Al-Hakim narrated it. He said: Ahmad ibn Harb said: I have tested it and found it to be true. Ibrahim ibn 'Ali al-Dibli said: I have tested it and found it to be true. Abu Zakariyya said: I have tested it and found it to be true. Al-Hakim said: I have tested it and found it to be true. 'Amir ibn Khudhash transmitted it uniquely, and he is a trustworthy and reliable narrator. The author said: This 'Amir, our Shaykh Abu al-Hasan said: He is a Naysaburi known for narrating anomalies, and he transmitted it uniquely from 'Umar ibn Harun al-Balkhi, who is abandoned and accused of fabrication. As far as I know, only Ibn Mahdi praised him. The question is: Is this hadith authentic? And if the hadith is authentic, Your Eminence, she has a set of questions that we hope to present if the hadith is authentic?
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon the Messenger of Allah, upon his family and his Companions, and upon those who follow his guidance.
As for what follows:
This hadith is not authentic; rather, it is fabricated and a lie attributed to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him). We have pointed this out for a long time. The author of the book *Al-Du'a al-Mustajab* (The Answered Supplication) mentioned it in his book, which is a book that is not permissible to rely upon, and its author is not among the people of knowledge. Therefore, we have pointed this out for months, indeed for more than a year, that this book is not permissible to rely upon, and that this hadith is fabricated. We have written what Allah has decreed regarding this. Readers must be alert to this report and this book, and that this book is not to be relied upon, which is *Al-Du'a al-Mustajab*, because of the weak and fabricated hadiths it contains. It is also not permissible to assume that this hadith is authentic; rather, it is a lie and not authentic from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). It is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he prohibited recitation during bowing and prostration, and this hadith involves recitation during bowing and prostration. 'Umar ibn Harun, the narrator, is a liar and his narration is not to be relied upon, and so is Amir ibn Khudash before him.
The point is that the hadith is fabricated and a lie, and is not to be relied upon. It is established from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said:
Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs, Allah (SWT) will build for him a house in paradiseمن صلى ثنتي عشرة ركعة بنى الله له بيتاً فيي الجنة
Sunan an-Nasa'i 1802Da'if (Darussalam)
Then he specified them in the narration of al-Tirmidhi (may Allah have mercy on him), saying:
Four before the midday prayer, and two after it, and two after the sunset prayer, and two after the night prayer, and two before the dawn prayer.أربعاً قبل الظهر، وثنتين بعدها، وثنتين بعد المغرب، وثنتين بعد العشاء، وثنتين قبل صلاة الصبح
These are the rawatib (regular voluntary prayers) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to maintain. Whoever maintains them, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise. He prays four before the midday prayer with two taslims, and two after it, and two after the sunset prayer, and two after the night prayer, and two before the dawn prayer. These are the rak'ahs that Allah (Mighty and Majestic) prescribed, and He has assigned to them great good.
As for these rak'ahs in this hadith of al-Hakim, and in the narration of 'Umar ibn Harun, you have understood, O questioner, you have understood, O female questioner, that it is a fabricated and lying hadith. You should not be afflicted; rather, be reassured. Fear Allah, watch over your obedience to Allah, and act according to the Shari'ah of Allah. Leave behind the whispers (waswas) and attachment to fabricated, lying, and weak hadiths. In what Allah has prescribed is sufficiency and independence from what people have innovated and what people have lied about. Holding fast to the religion is not torment; holding fast to the religion is comfort, it is reassurance, and it is great, immediate good. And in the Hereafter it is greater and greater; the comfort in the Hereafter is greater and greater. So you should not be afflicted; rather, be reassured and be at ease by doing what Allah has prescribed and leaving what Allah has forbidden. Increase in the remembrance of Allah, His glorification, His exaltation, seeking His forgiveness, and repenting to Him. Be glad with good, and leave behind the whispers and hesitation that lead you to torment and fatigue. But open your chest to the religion of Allah, hold fast to the Shari'ah of Allah, and increase in reading the Qur'an, and in the remembrance of Allah, His glorification, His praise, seeking His forgiveness, and repenting to Him. Act according to the acts of worship that Allah has prescribed and be glad with good. Be glad with comfort in this world and happiness in this world, and happiness and comfort in the Hereafter is greater. May Allah grant me and you steadfastness and insight in the religion.
The presenter: May Allah reward you. So the questions dependent on this hadith do not need to be presented as long as it is not authentic?
The Shaykh: They are void. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
