What is the course of action when researchers disagree on the authenticity or weakness of a hadith?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
In his question regarding some hadiths, he says: If a hadith comes, and some researchers authenticate it while others weaken it, which one should we follow?

Answer:
This is a matter requiring careful consideration. A person must verify the matter and consult others until it becomes more likely in his view that this hadith is weak or that it is authentic. He should be cautious with his religion and not rush. By asking scholars, he can determine which of the two positions is stronger. He should seek out well-known scholars of knowledge and ask them until his heart is reassured by one of the opinions. Then he should act according to what reassures his heart and opens his chest. This is what is obligatory for the general public: to verify and ask, because Allah says:
So ask the people of the message if you do not know.فَاسْأَلُوا أَهْلَ الذِّكْرِ إِنْ كُنْتُمْ لا تَعْلَمُونَ
[Surah al-Nahl: 43]. Therefore, the believer should ask, look into the matter, and not rush until he is reassured. If there is a prohibition, stay away from it to be cautious with your religion. If it is a command, strive in obedience, because there is benefit in this. If there is a command, doing what some scholars said is obligatory is better for you than leaving it. If the disagreement is about something prohibited, where some say it is not forbidden and others say it is forbidden, stay away from it out of caution.
