Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is "La 'amri" (an oath)?

Answer:
There is no harm in it; it is not an oath.
Q: Well, may Allah reward you. What about the saying of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) :
By your life, [O Muhammad], indeed they were, in their intoxication, wandering blindly.لَعَمْرُكَ إِنَّهُمْ لَفِي سَكْرَتِهِمْ يَعْمَهُونَ
[Al-Hijr:72]?
A: Linguistically, it is not an oath in terms of the Shari'ah. This is a linguistic matter, which is why it was reported from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and from some of the Companions that they swore by it.
