Continuation of the Shaykh's disapproval of those who enter a gathering and greet every individual in it

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : So based on this, we must know that it is a recommended practice (sunnah) for one who enters a gathering to offer a general greeting, saying "Peace be upon you." Then, if the people of the gathering are like us now, and the number is fewer, as I think, and it is easy for him to shake hands, that is ... from the recommended practice (sunnah), as Abu Dharr or Abu Umamah said:
Narrated Ibn Jaz: "The laughter of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was not but smiling." ما لَقِيَنا رسول الله - صلى الله عليه وسلم - إلا وصافَحَنا
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3642Sahih (Darussalam)
But if it is a large group ... and so on, there is no room for shaking hands, then this greeting is sufficient. If he greets and it is easy for him to shake hands, let him shake hands. But "Peace be upon you, peace be upon you" to each person—this is an example of a religious innovation (bid'ah) that falls under a general text, meaning the phrase "Peace be upon you."
Spread the greeting of peace among yourselves أفشُوا السلام بينكم
Why do we disapprove of these people today? First, we know from the recommended practice (sunnah) that they think it is good to greet every person ... "Peace be upon you, peace be upon you." This was not the practice of the Salaf (the earliest generations). This is the answer. So, anything that falls under a general text but was not practiced by the Salaf (the earliest generations) is a religious innovation (bid'ah). And ... the general text is a very important rule. I am amazed how it was not mentioned among the principles of jurisprudence (usul al-fiqh). It is a very important rule. And although the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) established it in his saying:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected. مَن أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو ردٌّ
Sahih Muslim 1718a
, but clarifying it in a way that suits today's understanding is very important. Otherwise ... those who are from the people of the Sunnah and the community (Ahl al-Sunnah wa al-Jama'ah), as they say, fall into religious innovation (bid'ah) without realizing it. Why? Because they did not pay attention to this rule ... . The people of hadith in Pakistan call for group supplication after the prayers, and one of them wrote an article in the Salafi University magazine ... group supplication ... the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) did not do this. If it had been good, we would have been preceded to it by them. Yes, okay, shall we pray the night prayer ('Isha')?
