Ruling on a woman uncovering her face

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The listening sister Fatimah Abdullah from Sudan sent a message containing some questions. In one of her questions, she says: She is a veiled girl, but there are girls among them who say that the face is not an awrah (part of the body that must be covered). Is this correct?

Answer:
This is not correct. Some scholars have said this, but it is not correct. The correct view is that it is an awrah (part of the body that must be covered). This is the correct opinion among the scholars: that it is an awrah (part of the body that must be covered); because it is the greatest of adornment. Allah the Exalted says:
not expose their adornment except to their husbandsوَلا يُبْدِينَ زِينَتَهُنَّ إِلَّا لِبُعُولَتِهِنَّ ..
[Surat al-Nur: 31], the verse. So the face is the greatest of adornment, and by it a woman is known to be beautiful or ugly. It is included in the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And when you ask [his wives] for something, ask them from behind a partition. That is purer for your hearts and their hearts.
[Surat al-Ahzab: 53].
It is obligatory for women to veil themselves and not to show their faces to non-mahram (a relative one may not marry); because it is the greatest of adornment; and because it is a fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), and it may cause much evil for the one who uncovers her face in front of non-mahram (a relative one may not marry). There is no power and no strength except with Allah. Yes. And this was permissible at the beginning of Islam, permissible at the beginning of Islam, then Allah prohibited it after He revealed the verse of hijab (the covering prescribed for women). Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
