Ruling on a man saying to his wife: If you agree to something good, then seek Allah's guidance

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
This is a question from the listener Muhammad Zahi al-Harbi from Hail, al-Nahitiyyah village. He says: I divorced my wife and said to her: "If you agree to something good, then seek Allah's guidance," meaning: if a man asks for your hand in marriage, marry him. I gave her her release papers. Is it possible for me to return to her a second time?
Please inform us, may Allah have mercy on you.

Answer:
If the divorce was with this wording, then it counts as one divorce. If he said to her: "If you agree to something good, agree to it," or "If a husband proposes to you, marry him," or something similar to that, or "You are divorced," or "You are divorced," or something similar to that, then this is considered one; only one divorce. So he may take her back as long as she is in the waiting period, by testifying with two witnesses that he has taken her back. He says: "I have taken back my wife," or "I have returned to my wife," or "I have sent back my wife," and similar words indicating his return to her. It is better that he testifies with two just witnesses, saying: "Bear witness that I have taken back my wife," as long as she is in the waiting period, meaning: as long as she has not had three menstrual periods if she menstruates, and if she does not menstruate, her waiting period is three months.
So if he takes her back before the three months have passed, she becomes lawful to him and becomes his wife. But if she has completed her waiting period, meaning: three menstrual periods have passed since the divorce if she menstruates, or three months have passed if she does not menstruate, like an old woman or a young girl, then she is a stranger to him at that time, and she does not become lawful to him except with a new contract, ... a new contract, like other suitors and other men who propose to her. She does not become lawful except with a new marriage, with its conditions considered valid by the Shari'ah. Yes.
