The Ruling on Poems in Praise of the Prophet

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Our brother asks and says: What is the ruling on poems in praise of the Prophet, specifically the Murgani and the Dhibi methods, as it appears? And these methods have supporters and those who are versed in this aspect, who almost abandon the Noble Qur'an and the Prophetic Sunnah? We ask for your advice of them. May Allah reward you with good.

Answer:
The Sufi methods, in general, are innovative methods: Murgani, Shadhili, Barhani, Qadiri, Tijani, or otherwise. All these methods are innovations, and some are more severe than others. The more a method deviates from the Shari'ah, the greater its sin and the greater its evil. It is obligatory to abandon them and be content with what Allah and His Messenger said. This is the obligation: that the believer should follow the way of the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and those who followed them with excellence in their words, actions, movements, and stillnesses. He should not invent a new method in his worship, or in his dhikr, or otherwise. Rather, it is sufficient for him what was sufficient for the first ones, the Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and their followers with excellence. It is not permissible for anyone to invent a new method to worship by, other than the way followed by the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his Companions. This is one of the great calamities that people have been afflicted with.
It is obligatory for every believer, male and female, to be content with the path followed by the Companions of the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) and by those who followed them with excellence, and not to introduce into the religion of Allah anything that Allah has not permitted. Allah the Exalted said:
Or have they other deities who have ordained for them a religion to which Allah has not consented?أَمْ لَهُمْ شُرَكَاءُ شَرَعُوا لَهُمْ مِنَ الدِّينِ مَا لَمْ يَأْذَنْ بِهِ اللَّهُ
[Surah al-Shura: 21]. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
'A'isha reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: He who innovates things in our affairs for which there is no valid (reason) (commits sin) and these are to be rejected.من أحدث في أمرنا هذا ما ليس منه فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718a
(agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim). He also said (peace and blessings be upon him):
He who did any act for which there is no sanction from our behalf, that is to be rejected.من عمل عملًا ليس عليه أمرنا فهو رد
Sahih Muslim 1718b
meaning: it is rejected. So this is the path of all ways, except the path of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) which his Companions and those who pleased them and their followers with excellence followed. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
