Is it permissible to take gold on credit?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
Is it permissible to take gold on credit—that is, to buy gold with payment to be made after several months due to a lack of funds?

Answer:
If one buys gold with currency, it is not permissible; this is riba (usury or interest). But if one buys gold with other goods, such as clothes, cars, or food, there is nothing wrong with it. However, buying with currency is riba; it must be hand-to-hand. But if one buys a gold necklace with other clothing, or with coffee, or sugar, or utensils, or a car, there is nothing wrong with it, yes, even if the payment is deferred.
