Question:
The first message in this episode is from one of our brother listeners. The sender (H.A.), a Yemeni from Taiz, has a set of questions and issues. The first issue we are raising at the beginning of this episode is: If a wife is exposed to illness, fatigue, and deterioration in health due to pregnancy and childbirth at close intervals, and despite all this, we do not have the necessary food for the pregnant and nursing woman, nor do we have comprehensive healthcare, because life in the countryside is harsh, is it permissible to use any method of birth control to avoid what has been mentioned? May Allah reward you with good.
Answer:
In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may the prayers and peace be upon His servant and Messenger, our Prophet, Imam, and Master Muhammad ibn Abdullah, and upon his family and his Companions, and whoever follows his path and is guided by his guidance until the Day of Judgment. As for what follows:
There is no harm in using permissible means of birth control if the woman is experiencing hardship, whether due to an illness she has contracted or due to the reasons mentioned by the questioner. There is no objection to her using pills, a drink, or anything else that is permissible, in order to regulate pregnancy so that it does not harm her, and so that it does not harm the upbringing of her children if they come in succession and she cannot bear it.
The intention behind this is to do good to her and to do good to her children. If regulating pregnancy brings good to her in terms of her health, and brings good to her children in terms of their upbringing, then there is no harm in that, and praise be to Allah. Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you with good.
