The Ruling on Anthems Accompanied by Music

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The following message was sent by our brother Abdullah al-Anizan from Jubail. Our brother has a number of questions, one of which says: My daughter goes to the nursery, the kindergarten, but among the things they do at the nursery is that the teacher turns on the recorder and plays them anthems that are not vulgar, for example about the mother and the homeland and the like, but those anthems are accompanied by music. Is it permissible for me to let my daughter go, and will I be sinful if she listens to such things?
Answer: This is a mistake on the part of the school. As for the girl listening to sound anthems, there is no blame on her, and so it is with the boy, and so it is with others, from the anthems that contain nothing forbidden, which are only for encouraging noble morals, or what relates to their duty to their homeland, and their duty to their state, and the like.
As for those who accompany them with music, this is a mistake and is not permissible. It is obligatory for the person in charge of the kindergartens to prevent this, so that there is no obstacle to children coming to them. So you and your brothers must contact the officials responsible for these kindergartens to prevent this matter, because there is no need for it, and it raises young children to love music, take pleasure in it, and listen to it afterwards, for a child is raised according to what he is brought up with. So you must contact the officials in charge of the schools to prevent this, and so that these kindergartens are safe from what contradicts the Shari'ah of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He). Yes.
The presenter: May Allah reward you.
