The Lawfulness of I'tikaf in Ramadan and Other Times

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
I have stayed in the Kingdom for nearly four years and I have not found a mosque in the country where the sunnah of i'tikaf is practiced. Is it a bid'ah (religious innovation) or what?

Answer:
I'tikaf is a sunnah (recommended practice) that the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him) performed, and it is best when done in Ramadan. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) performed it, and if one performs i'tikaf in a month other than Ramadan, it is still a sunnah. Perhaps the reason for this is the people's preoccupation with their affairs and their great inclination toward worldly life. However, there are still people who perform i'tikaf in the mosques, praise be to Allah. It is very common in Ramadan, but in months other than Ramadan, it is likely to be rare.
