From Whom a Fatwa Is Taken

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
From whom should one take a fatwa in jurisprudential matters, given that scholars differ in their answers to these issues, and how do we determine the stronger position in that case?

Answer:
Answer: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may Allah send prayers and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and all his Companions. As for what follows: If something is difficult for you, ask someone you trust in his knowledge and religion, and take his answer. Do not ask anyone else, lest the answers differ for you and cause confusion, as you mentioned. Ask someone you trust in his knowledge and religion, especially those known for issuing fatwas and to whom fatwas are attributed. Ask one of them, and when he gives you a fatwa, stick to his ruling. You are not obligated to determine the stronger position or engage in scholarly disagreement.
