Q1: I have many Islamic tapes, numbering more than 300, is zakah due on them?
A1: If the aforementioned tapes were intended by their owner for sale, and they are sound tapes that do not contradict the pure Shari'ah, then they are considered commercial goods on which zakah is obligatory if their value reaches the nisab and a lunar year has passed over them after their value reached the nisab, like other commercial goods. The obligatory amount is one-quarter of one-tenth of their value at the time zakah becomes due, which is the completion of the lunar year. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
