The Permissibility of Writing on Graves

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q104: Listener A.A. says: My mother passed away, and when she was buried, a plaque was placed on her grave with her name, the day of her death, and the date. I asked those present to recite al-Fatihah for her soul. What is the ruling on this?
A104: All of this is a religious innovation (bid'ah), and this action is not permissible, nor does it benefit
your mother. So you must remove this plaque and move it away from the grave; because this is a forbidden matter. Writing on graves is not permissible, nor is reciting the Noble Qur'an for her, and also reciting the Qur'an at the grave; there is no basis for it. Rather, what is prescribed is making du'a' for him after the burial is completed, and when visiting him, and greeting him.
