The Ruling on Writing on Graves

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Q: Is it permissible to place a piece of iron or a sign on the grave of the deceased, inscribed with verses from the Qur'an, in addition to the name of the deceased and the date of his death, etc.?
A: It is not permissible to write on the grave of the deceased, whether verses from the Qur'an or anything else, not on iron, not on a board, nor on anything else. This is based on what is established from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in the hadith of Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that he (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) forbade that the graves should be plastered or they be used as sitting places (for the people), or a building should be built over them.نهى أن يجصص القبر، وأن يقعد عليه، وأن يبنى عليه
Sahih Muslim 970a
It was narrated by Imam Muslim in his Sahih. Al-Tirmidhi and al-Nasa'i added, with a sound chain of narration:
And writing on it.وأن يكتب عليه
