Q: Is it permissible to fast without a pre-dawn meal? May Allah reward you with good.
A: It is prescribed for the one who is fasting to eat the pre-dawn meal before the dawn appears; for in that lies strength for the fast. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) encouraged this and explained that there is a blessing in the pre-dawn meal. However, if a person fasts without a pre-dawn meal, his fast is valid. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
