Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 17573 )
Q1: What is the difference in the legal ruling regarding a woman's face covering between when she is in a state of ihram for Hajj or 'Umrah and when she is not in a state of ihram?
A1: It is obligatory for a woman to cover her face from men who are not her mahram, both in the state of ihram and otherwise. However, in the state of ihram, she must not cover it with a burqu' or niqab that is specifically sewn for the face, but she should cover it with something else. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
