Participating in the construction of the imam's residence is a continuing charity

Fatwa number ( 20779 )
Q: My father purchased a plot of land next to the mosque (the neighborhood mosque) and then transferred it to the Ministry of Endowments and Islamic Affairs on the condition that a residence be built on it for the imam of the adjacent mosque; that is, an endowment in which whoever serves as the imam of the mosque resides. My father, may Allah preserve him, requested the ministry to build it as a two-story villa, and the ministry actually agreed. A large part of it has been completed. One of the brothers has offered a financial donation of (fifty thousand riyals) to complete the construction, on the condition of a fatwa from one of the shaykhs: Is his donation considered a continuing charity or not? Please issue a ruling, may Allah reward you with good, knowing that we are in need of that amount to complete the project.
A: What this donor contributes to complete the construction of the endowment residence for the imam of the mosque
is considered a continuing charity whose benefit continues for him to the extent of his contribution, if Allah wills; because the construction of the residence for the imam and the mu'adhdhin is an accessory to the mosque and one of its most important facilities, and each person who participates in that receives reward for what he has spent in that cause, if Allah wills. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
