Taking Some of the Pilgrims’ Left-Behind Belongings
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of Fatwa No. ( 17275 )
Q2: A person says: When some pilgrims finish their Hajj duties, they leave some of their belongings in Mina, such as (roasted chickpeas, and fans) or others. What is the ruling on taking from them, given that their owner left them and went away? Are these considered lost property, subject to the ruling of lost property in the Haram , or is taking them a violation? Also,
what is the ruling on taking some of the shoes left in the Haram in place of the shoes a person has lost?
A2: It is permissible to take and benefit from tools, vessels, and clothing that their owner has left behind with the intention of abandoning them, for whoever knows that the owner left them with the desire to abandon them. However, it is not permissible to take anything from what was left behind by someone who forgot it or intends to return for it. Instead, the responsible authority in Hajj regarding lost property should be informed about it. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
