The ruling if the imam breaks his ritual purity during the prayer
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The second question of fatwa number ( 19626 )
Q 2: If the imam is praying and he passes wind during the final tashahhud
of the prayer, what should he do?
A 2 : If the imam breaks his ritual purity during the prayer, he must cut off his prayer and have one of the ma'mum (those praying behind the imam) step forward to complete the prayer with them; because the part of the ma'mum's prayer that has already passed is valid, so it is permissible for them to build upon it. If they complete it alone, either as a congregation or individually, that is permissible and sufficient for them. As for the imam, his ritual purity is invalidated and the part of his prayer that has passed is invalid, so he leaves the prayer, renews his wudu' (ablution), and repeats the prayer. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
