The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17900 )
Q3: How valid is the statement that if a worshipper arrives and finds the mosque congregation in the final tashahhud , he should join them and not wait for another congregation, in order to attain the virtue of the large number of worshippers?
A3: If one finds people praying, he should join them in whatever part of the prayer he catches; based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Bulugh al-Maram 2:329, and it was narrated from him (peace and blessings be upon him) that he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 591Da'if (Darussalam), narrated by al-Tirmidhi . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
