Fatwa No. ( 20184 )
Q: Praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace be upon the one after whom there is no prophet. After that: The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has reviewed what was sent to His Eminence the Grand Mufti from the honorable head of the [Zamd] Board, and referred to the Committee by the General Secretariat of the Council of Senior Scholars, with number (824) and date 24/1/1419 AH. The questioner asked a question, the text of which is as follows: We inform Your Eminence that a person contacted our center asking and saying: He had some of his teeth extracted due to decay and lack of care for their cleanliness, and he had (9) other teeth installed, which are neither gold nor silver, and they are not fixed. The doctor advised him that he must remove them after eating and wash them so that no bad smell arises from them. The questioner says: If he wants to perform wudu' to perform the prayer, is he required to remove his installed teeth for the sake of rinsing the mouth, or does he rinse his mouth while they are in his mouth? It is known that he does not incur hardship in removing them and putting them back? We ask Your Eminence to provide information regarding his question and to inform us, so that
we may be able to inform him. May Allah guide you to the good of this world and the Hereafter.

A: After the Committee studied the question, it answered as follows: He does not remove his installed teeth for the sake of rinsing the mouth in wudu', but he rinses his mouth while they are in their place; because they do not prevent the validity of the rinsing, just as natural teeth do not. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send blessings and peace upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
