Q: Referring to a telegram from the Director of the Religious Affairs Branch of the Land Forces in the Eastern Region regarding the presence of a number of military units on the front lines, where they have set up their tents and stationed themselves in their positions since the beginning of the current events. I hope you will clarify the legal ruling regarding how they should pray while in this state, and whether the Friday prayer is obligatory for them at their locations? Peace be upon you.
A: The Sunnah for the garrison troops on the borders is to pray the prayer of the traveler, not the prayer of fear, and to pray every prayer in its proper time. If they combine them by bringing them forward or delaying them, there is no harm; because they are in the ruling of travelers; because, given the situation mentioned, they do not know the duration of their stay, and it is better for them not to combine.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
