The fourteenth question from fatwa number ( 17883 )
Q 14: In a narration by Muslim : , and it was said to Ibn 'Abbas that he said: He intended not to burden his Ummah. How authentic is this hadith? If the hadith is authentic, is it permissible for us to combine prayers as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) did, but on a permanent basis, and how can this hadith be reconciled with the saying of Allah the Exalted: [An-Nisa 4:103] ?
A 14: This hadith does not indicate combining prayers in any way; because it contradicts
the practical Sunnah of the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) prayer, and it contradicts the other hadiths that indicate the specification of prayer times, and the scholars have agreed to leave acting upon this hadith, as narrated by the Imam al-Tirmidhi: (It is possible that he (peace and blessings be upon him) did so for an excuse other than fear, rain, or travel). And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
