The first question of Fatwa number ( 21039 )
Q 1: You have benefited us regarding the saying: "Truthful is Allah, the Mighty," by stating that it is a religious innovation and that it did not occur from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him). This was clear, and may Allah reward you with good. However, regarding its writing in the mushafs (written copies of the Qur'an), we know that this is done under the supervision of scholars and jurists in religion and language. Is this matter hidden from them, that it is written at the end? Please inform us, may Allah reward you with good.
A 1 : The proof in matters of religion is what is in the Book and the Sunnah, whether explicitly or by derivation. As for the independent legal reasoning of scholars who contradicted the correct evidence due to their lack of knowledge of it, or because it was not established for them, or because they interpreted it other than its proper meaning, or similar reasons, that is not a justification for abandoning the correct evidence in favor of their statements. Rather, it is obligatory to follow the evidence and abandon what contradicts it, while respecting the status of the scholars, not diminishing them, and making du'a' (supplication) for them. We advise
consulting the book: (Raf' al-Malam 'an al-A'immah al-A'lam) by Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah (may Allah have mercy on him). Based on what has been mentioned, concluding the mushaf with the writing: (Truthful is Allah, the Mighty) is an innovation with no basis. Therefore, it is obligatory to remove it from the mushafs if it is found. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
