The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17864 )
Q 3: What is the difference between the mosque and the prayer place? I mean by this: is the greeting of the mosque obligatory in the prayer place, or is it outside its ruling, or is it on the path of recommendation and desirability?
A 3: The mosque is the area designated for the obligatory prayers on a permanent basis, and endowed for that purpose. As for the prayer place, it is what is set up for an occasional prayer, such as the prayer of the two festivals or the funeral prayer or others, and it is not endowed for the five daily prayers. It is not recommended to perform the greeting of the mosque when entering the prayer place; rather, it is recommended when entering the mosque for one
who intends to sit in it, and it is performed before sitting, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):Sahih al-Bukhari 1167 It is agreed upon as authentic. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
