The first question of Fatwa number ( 20482 )
Q 1: It is often heard on the tongues of some preachers that they describe the Chosen One (peace and blessings be upon him) as one who “removed the distress.” Is it
permissible to apply this description to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him)?
A 1: Describing the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as one who “removed the distress” is a correct description, for by him Allah saved people from the Fire and brought them out of the darkness of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and ignorance into the light of tawhid (the oneness of Allah) and knowledge. Allah the Exalted said in describing His Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):[Ibrahim 14:1] , and He the Exalted said: [Ali 'Imran 3:164] . It is not meant that he (peace and blessings be upon him) removes distress such that people call upon him for aid in that regard instead of Allah, for that is shirk akbar (major shirk) from which one must guard oneself. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
