What is the ruling on the one who prays for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) saying, "You advised the Ummah and removed the calamity"?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: What is the ruling on the one who says: When he prayed for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), he said, "You advised the Ummah and removed the calamity"?

The Shaykh : We have referred to this before. We said that the best prayer a person offers for his Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) is what he taught his Ummah: "O Allah, send blessings upon Muhammad and upon the family of Muhammad," and so on. As for...

The questioner : Advising the Ummah and removing the calamity.

The Shaykh : Advising the Ummah is correct. As for removing the calamity, if he means that he was the cause of it, then this is true. But if he means that he himself removed the calamity, (peace and blessings be upon him), then this is forbidden, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not possess the power to benefit us or harm us, nor for himself. His Lord, Mighty and Majestic, commanded him to say:
(21) Say, "Indeed, I do not possess for you [the power of] harm or right direction." (22) Say, "Indeed, there will never protect me from Allah anyone [if I should disobey], nor will I find in other than Him a refuge. قل إني لا أملك لكم ضرا ولا رشداً قل إني لن يجيرني من الله أحد ولن أجد من دونه ملتحداً
[Al-Jinn 72:21-22]
Therefore, it is not permissible for us to believe that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) possesses the power to benefit us or ward off harm from us, even in his lifetime. He does not possess this except for what a servant is capable of. And after his death, he certainly does not possess this. Therefore, it is wrong to say at his grave, "O Messenger of Allah, intercede for me," because this is an error, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not possess the power to intercede in the state of death, due to his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
When a person dies, his deeds are cut off إذا مات الإنسان انقطع عمله
Jami` at-Tirmidhi 1376Sahih (Darussalam)
Intercession is an action, but instead of this, you should say: "O Allah, let Your Prophet intercede for me," and the like. Yes.
