Q2: I am aware of what confirms that it is not permissible to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) , but I was shocked when I read in a book titled: ( Islam and Religious Rites ) by Muhammad Mukhtar Tayyib , specifically on page 45 of the fourth chapter, that Imam al-Shafi'i used to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)..
A2: As you know (may Allah guide you), celebrating what is called the Prophet's birthday is a forbidden religious innovation, and none of the Salaf or the four Imams did it. Whoever attributes this to al-Shafi'i has lied; because this innovation did not occur until the fourth century of the Hijrah during the Fatimid state, and Imam al-Shafi'i (may Allah have mercy on him) died in the year 204 AH. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
