The second question of Fatwa number ( 18959 )
Q 2: One of the scholars mentioned in his book (Responses and Doubts Regarding the Salafis) where he said: The Salafis take the text in its literal sense and deny metaphor. Did they take this verse in its literal sense, which is His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Qasas 28:88] . And Allah
the Exalted and Majestic has stated that He has a hand, an eye, a foot, a leg, and attributes befitting His essence. If they take them in their literal sense, we would say to them: then everything is destroyed, the hand, the foot, the leg, and all of Allah's attributes, and only the face remains. If they say otherwise, we would say to them: then the text is taken as metaphor, not literal, and this is the crux of the matter. We ask for your esteemed, sufficient, and comprehensive response to such a doubt.
A 2: When the Exalted prohibited calling upon other than Him because it is perishing, for it is not fit to be called upon and worshipped, He informed that He is the One who remains alone, who is worthy of being called upon and worshipped. He referred to the face because it is the noblest of the limbs, as He, the Exalted, said:[Ar-Rahman 55:26-27] . So in both verses is the affirmation of the face for Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in a manner befitting His majesty; because the face is used to refer to the essence among the Arabs, and the Qur'an was revealed in their language. And in them is the information about the perishing of everything other than Him and His remaining alone with all His attributes. So He is the Living who does not die, while the creation dies and then is resurrected. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
