Torturing Animals
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The eighth question of Fatwa No. ( 9437 )
Q 8: My mother used to say that she once had a harmful dog that stole food, so she caught it and tied it up in the desert, intending for it to die, but she did not know whether it died or not. What is the ruling on that?
A 8 : It is not permissible for her to do that because of the torture of the animal involved. The prescribed action is to hasten its killing. If she knows it is alive, she must release it and hasten to kill it. If it has died, she must repent, seek forgiveness, and regret what has passed, and not return to such an act. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
