Giving the expiation for an oath to a single poor person
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The third question of Fatwa No. ( 17575 )
Q 3: Is it permissible to give the expiation for an oath to a single poor person, or is it necessary to give to ten poor people? What is the ruling if one repeats giving to that same poor person for ten days? And is it permissible to give the fidyah for the inability to fast in Ramadan to a single poor person after collecting it, or must it be given out each day to a poor person other than the first one? Please inform us in detail, may Allah reward you.
A 3: If the expiation for an oath is paid out in food, it is necessary to provide for ten poor people, with each poor person receiving half a sa' of food. It is not permissible to limit it to a single poor person, even if one repeats giving to him for ten days, because this contradicts the explicit text. As for feeding in lieu of fasting in Ramadan, it is permissible to collect it and pay it to a single poor person for the number of days.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
