The third question of Fatwa number ( 21675 )
Q 3: What is the ruling on the phrase "May Allah honor his face" for 'Ali ibn Abi Talib ? Does this constitute preferring him over the Companions? And if I say, "May Allah honor the faces of all the Companions," is there any harm in that?
A 3 : Singling out 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) with the supplication "May Allah honor his face" is a practice of the Rafidah who exaggerate in his regard. Therefore, it is obligatory for the people of the Sunnah to distance themselves from imitating them in this, and not to single out 'Ali ibn Abi Talib (may Allah be pleased with him) with this supplication to the exclusion of his other brothers among the Companions, such as Abu Bakr and 'Umar and 'Uthman and others, may Allah be pleased with all the Companions. As for using this supplication for all the Companions, there is no harm in it, but it is not among the transmitted supplications. What is customary among Muslims is to say "May Allah be pleased with them," as mentioned in the Noble Qur'an:[Al-Ma'idah 5:119] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
