Image of the Prophet's Chamber
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Fatwa No. ( 20857 )
Q: We submit to your Eminence some examples represented by images of the Prophet's Chamber , which contain the grave of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) and his two companions (may Allah be pleased with them both and with all the Companions), in addition to Qur'anic verses written on the back with the phrase (Endowed for the face of Allah the Exalted for the soul of so-and-so). These are usually sent for congratulations on certain occasions, such as festivals and the beginning of the new year; therefore, we would like your Eminence to review them and clarify what you see as a fatwa to guide the people.
A : It is not permissible to promote or distribute the aforementioned images; due to the harms that result from
them, such as exaggeration, seeking blessing from them, and exposing them to desecration; because they contain the verses of Allah the Exalted and His names (Glorified and Exalted is He). Likewise, it is not permissible to print or promote the aforementioned cards containing Qur'anic verses and the phrase on the back (Endowed for the face of Allah the Exalted for the soul of so-and-so) due to the desecration they are exposed to, and their use for adornment. The speech of Allah is more noble and exalted than that, and because the aforementioned phrase is not a valid endowment; because there is no legal benefit from the cards in the manner described. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
