Q: I am engaged in coloring papyrus sheets that contain ancient Pharaonic themes in various aspects of life. My job requires me to color the symbols of the people who appear in one of the paper models , who are performing rituals of worship and exaltation for one of the ancient Pharaonic gods, who represented the god of the earth to them, and another who represented the god of the sky. Therefore, I ask for a prompt ruling on this matter. I am responsible only for the coloring, and I have no involvement in its printing or marketing, and I am unaware
of its importance to its buyers, such as tourists and others.
A: This mentioned work is not permissible; because it is displaying shirk (associating partners with Allah) and kufr (disbelief), and cooperating in sin and aggression. It is obligatory to obliterate this polytheism and not display it, and not to cooperate with those who print or market it; because that is from the cooperation in sin and aggression which Allah forbade in His saying, the Exalted:[Al-Ma'idah 5:2] And it is obligatory for you to leave this profession and repent to Allah for what has passed, and seek sustenance through other means, [At-Talaq 65:2-3] and success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَتَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الْبِرِّ وَالتَّقْوَى وَلاَ تَعَاوَنُوا عَلَى الإِثْمِ وَالْعُدْوَانِ وَاتَّقُوا اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ شَدِيدُ الْعِقَابِAnd whoever fears Allah - He will make for him a way out (3) And will provide for him from where he does not expect.
وَمَنْ يَتَّقِ اللَّهَ يَجْعَلْ لَهُ مَخْرَجًا (2) وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لاَ يَحْتَسِبُ
