The Expiation for the Oath of Perjury
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 19188 )
Q1: What is the method of the expiation for the oath of perjury?
Vol. 1: The oath of immersion — which is: one in which its owner swears to a matter
that has already passed, lying while knowing of his lie — has no expiation; because one of the conditions for the obligation of expiation is that the oath be established, meaning the one who swore intended to establish it regarding a possible future matter. The oath of immersion is a major sin among the major sins, and it is obligatory for its owner to make sincere repentance from it, to seek forgiveness frequently, and to draw near to Allah by performing many voluntary acts of worship and supplicating before Him, so that perhaps Allah may forgive him and accept his repentance. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
