Fatwa No. ( 2811 )
Q: I have a brother who wants to work in the Kingdom, and he is, praise be to Allah, and we do not praise anyone over Allah, one who follows the guidance of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him). He has found much open sinfulness and transgression of the limits of Allah in the company where he works. He sent me his graduation certificate, which is from the Faculty of Commerce at Alexandria University, 1974 CE, Department of Economics, and he found an offer from one of the Saudis, meaning that he would give him 5,000 riyals in exchange for a job contract with Saudi Airlines . I ask whether this is in accordance with the Shari'ah? Please issue a ruling on this.
A: If the situation is as you described, regarding paying a sum in exchange for a job contract with Saudi Airlines or the like, then that is one of the major sins. Also, accepting that sum is forbidden; because it is a bribe. It is established that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who gives a bribe and the one who takes a bribe, as stated in the hadith. So you must avoid that and seek sustenance through lawful means, for the doors of lawful earnings are many. Fear Allah and rely upon Him, for whoever fears Allah, He will make a way out for him and provide for him from where he does not expect.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
