Q: In our city and in Islamic cities, this practice has spread: when the Friday prayer is completed, you find the old and the young kissing their father's knee, the right knee. What is the ruling on this?
A: It is obligatory for sons to be dutiful to their fathers and to treat them well. As for adopting the kissing of fathers' knees by their sons as a symbol after the Friday prayer, there is no basis for this, so it is not permissible. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.
