Fatwa number ( 19157 )
Q: Whatis the ruling on a son performing the washing of impurities and cleaning the area of excretion, and shaving the pubic hair of his elderly father or mother, and what is the ruling on a daughter doing the same? And what is the ruling on a man doing this for his elderly relatives, such as his paternal uncle, maternal uncle, or brother, or the like?
A: Regarding another person washing the private parts of one who is unable to wash and clean his own 'awrah from impurity, there is nothing wrong with this, provided it is done from behind a barrier that covers the 'awrah, and the washer wears a glove or wrapping on his hand so that he does not touch the 'awrah directly. Likewise, he may shave his pubic hair, and it is permissible to expose the 'awrah for this purpose, as it is a necessity. Men should perform this for men, and women for women, if that is feasible. If it is not feasible—meaning a man performing this for a woman or a woman for a man—there is no blame due to the necessity that requires it; based on the saying of Allah (Mighty and Majestic):[Al-An'am 6:119] the verse. And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

وَقَدْ فَصَّلَ لَكُمْ مَا حَرَّمَ عَلَيْكُمْ إِلا مَا اضْطُرِرْتُمْ إِلَيْهِ
