Q: What is the ruling on using the title (Qutb) or (Ghawth) for some of the awliya (close friends of Allah) and the righteous ? Is that permissible?
A: These two terms (Qutb and Ghawth) have no basis in the pure Shari'ah, and they are terms of the extreme Sufis that have recently appeared. Using them for some of the awliya is not permissible; because they are terms that are on the tongues of the people of misguidance, and they intend by them: that this Qutb and Ghawth has control over the universe, and that he fulfills their needs. This is kufr (disbelief) that contradicts tawhid (the oneness of Allah); because Allah (Exalted and Majestic is He) sent down the books and sent the messengers for His worship alone, with no partner for Him, and He commanded the creation to turn to Him and call upon Him alone to bring what benefits them and repel what harms them. He the Exalted said:[An-Naml 27:62]
, and He the Exalted said:[Yunus 10:107] , and He the Sublime said: [An-Naml 27:65] . And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad, his family, and his Companions.

And if Allah should touch you with adversity, there is no remover of it except Him; and if He intends for you good, then there is no repeller of His bounty. He causes it to reach whom He wills of His servants. And He is the Forgiving, the Merciful
