The Difference Between 'Aqeedah and Manhaj
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first and fourth questions of Fatwa No. ( 18870 )
Q 1: There has been much talk these days about the difference between 'aqeedah and manhaj, to the point that people have started saying: So-and-so's 'aqeedah is the 'aqeedah of the people of the Sunnah and the community, or (the Salafis), but his manhaj is not the manhaj of the people of the Sunnah and the community. For example, they say this about some of those who claim affiliation with the Tabligh Jama'ah or the Muslim Brotherhood, or about some other groups. Is there a criterion by which we can know the manhaj of the people of the Sunnah and the community, or the Salafis? And is this distinction between 'aqeedah and manhaj valid?
A 1: The Muslim's 'aqeedah and his manhaj are one thing, namely what a person believes in his heart, speaks with his tongue, and acts upon with his limbs regarding the oneness of Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) in lordship, worship, names, and attributes, singling Him out for worship, and adhering to His Shari'ah in speech, action, and belief as it came in the Book of Allah and the Sunnah of His Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him), and as the Salaf of the Ummah and its imams followed. By this, it is known that there is no difference between 'aqeedah and manhaj; rather, they are one thing that the Muslim must adhere to and stand firm upon.
